The first Toyota vehicle to be sold to the U.S. market was the 1957 Toyota Crown. During the oil crisis in the '70s, Toyota, along with other Japanese automakers like rivals Honda and Nissan, offered fuel-efficient vehicles like the Toyota Corolla to the now gas strapped American public. Its most well-known car, the mid-sized Camry, started out as a compact in 1982.

The hybrid powertrain puts power to the wheels via a CVT and, like other Toyota hybrids, it features an EV-only mode usable in certain low-speed conditions where the battery has enough charge. Inside, the 2011 Highlander Hybrid is mostly carried over from the outgoing model, although a new 50/50 split-folding third row replaces a single-piece unit and streaming Bluetooth audio joins the options list. Some trim colors have been modified for the new model year.
All Highlander Hybrids are all-wheel-drive, although the model is offered in both standard and Limited trim levels. The upgrade package adds 19-inch alloy wheels (that replace 17-inch alloy wheels), automatic climate control, a power liftgate and perforated leather seats.
Highlander Hybrids go on sale this week, starting at $37,290 for the base vehicle and $42,945 for the Limited.

Toyota's Crawl Control (CRAWL) feature is standard on the Trail grade. CRAWL is an adjustable electro-mechanical system that can be tuned to match the terrain by selecting any of five speed levels. The Trail grade also features a Mufti-Terrain Select system which allows the 4x4 operator to dial in wheel slip control to match the terrain.
All V6 models come standard with Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), which provides additional control for off-road driving by helping to keep the vehicle stationary while starting on a steep incline or slippery surface.<form action="http://www.websquash.org/ssearch/smartsearch.cgi" method="get">

The new Land Cruiser features optional KDSS suspension, co-developed with Australia’s Kinetic, which uses a hydraulic system that controls the front and rear stabilizer bars to improve stability.
The truck will be equipped with Toyota's new "crawl control" system which controls the engine and brakes to maintain a low speed when traversing off-road obstacles such as rocks, sand or steep hills.
Features include standard fog lamps, color-keyed power auto-dimming, heated outside mirrors with power folding, reverse tilt-down and memory features, full-time 4WD system with Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) and Tor-sen limited-slip center differential with locking feature, crawl control, hill start assist control, a power moon-roof, 18-inch wheels, roof rack, running boards, tow hooks, mud guards and much more. This SUV is built for serious off-road duty.
Prices for the new Land Cruiser start at $67,370 - more than $10,000 higher than the previous model.

Toyota has been testing out plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) in France since September 2007. The motor company is expanding these tests to the streets of London with the help of UK-based EDF Energy. EDF Energy has begun installing 40 plug-in stations in several test cities to accommodate a small fleet of Toyota Prius PHEVs. The utility company has found volunteers within its own ranks to test out the fuel efficiency of the Prius prototypes. EDF Energy and Toyota sent out the first PHEV on September 10, 2008 with plans to run the trials through the end of 2009.

In this project we worked in close collaboration with Saatchi for LA. We transformed their concept into an entertaining and quite unusual car presentation. North Kingdom was responsible for concept development and execution. And as always we worked closely with our great external partners.
How can we do an entertaining car presentation entertaining and get away from the typical technical tone? How can we add the right touch of humor to it and still be elegant?
Another challenge was to present the car’s specific features without adding lots of info text and often quite boring facts. We wanted to go away from the very common “hotpot” presentation of cars. And of course another problem to solve was that the new car model wasn´t yet available.
